The NRTC’s subject matter experts are ready to help you with any questions or concerns regarding employment for individuals with blindness or low vision. Here are just a few of the things we can help with:

For employers - we can help you sort through the legal requirements of hiring an individual with a disability, figure out how to accommodate a worker who is losing their vision, or tell you why hiring an individual with blindness and low vision makes good business sense.

For service providers - we can direct you to opportunities for free continuing education, tell you about the latest research on blindness and low vision topics and how this research might impact your practice, or assist you in helping a consumer adapt to vision loss while on the job.

For individuals with vision loss - we can help you figure out what to do if you start experiencing vision loss while on the job, put you in touch with organizations in your local area that provide services, or talk with you about technology that might help you perform workplace tasks more easily.

Interested in research? – our researchers can discuss current research findings, explain emerging trends in employment research related to persons who are blind or visually impaired, provide expertise in understanding and implementing research, and encourage you in your personal research efforts. If you would like to participate in research or are looking for research ideas, we would be glad to help.
